Crawling. Talking. Eating with a spoon. Without a doubt, mastering milestones is what being a baby is all about. And there’s not one bigger than walking. (Though, after changing about a billion diapers, I might give the edge to using the potty.)

To us adults, putting one foot in front of the other is about as simple and as mindless as breathing air and checking our text messages.

But to our baby boys and beautiful girls, walking is the key to a brand new world, one filled with fun, freedom, and a few frightful-but-necessary moments.

And though there are some safety concerns surrounding walkers – they allow our little ones to roam right into some sticky situations before they truly know how to deal with it – these go-go goo-goo gadgets are great at giving our kids that early autonomy that they so often crave.

Warning: Walkers Are For Fun, Not Fundamentals

Along with their safety concerns, another knock on walkers is that they may

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, traditional, ride-in walkers help to simulate walking. That is all. They do not aid our little ones in obtaining the motion mechanics or muscles required to move in such a way. And if used too often, they may even prevent our little guys and gals from walking as early as they possibly can.

With that being said, however, nearly everything comes with a warning label these days. And though a walker, when used incorrectly, may hinder progress, when one is used responsibly – say, for an hour a day, under direct supervision – they can offer a form of confidence-boosting entertainment unfound in other toys.

Don’t believe us? Read our reviews for the best walkers for babies. (And if you’re still not sold, there are a couple in there – namely the first and the last – that don’t technically qualify as “traditional” walkers.)  Here are the best baby walker reviews you’ve been searching for!

The Best Baby Walker Reviews

Now that we’ve covered a few of the finer points about baby walkers in general, it’s time to talk specifics. Here are your reviews for the top-rated baby walkers available on the market today.

Remember, three paragraphs ago, when we talked about all the safety concerns and developmental deficiencies of “traditional” walkers? Well, none of that applies to the V-Tech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker – in our opinion one of the best baby walker available.

The V-Tech Sit-to-Stand is a non-traditional style walker in that it allows the child to sit and play with its fully removable, interactive play center – for when they’re not quite ready to walk – or stand up and stroll around the room, using their own muscles and mobility, with the help of an easy-grip handle.

The speed and ease of the wheels are two-speed adjustable. They can either glide freely or roll at a snail’s pace, depending on your child’s abilities and will do so wonderfully on both carpet and hardwood.

The removable activity center is awesome for both language and sensory development as it includes a piano, a telephone, 2 colorful rollers that spin, 3 shape sorters, 3 light-up buttons, and 70 sing-along songs, sounds, effects, and phrases. Is this the best baby walker? We think it definitely is a cherry on the top. Amazon has a good deal so in case you’re interested.

The Combi All-in-ONE, Black

Combi Baby Walker and Interactive Mobile Activity Center with Quick Release Snack Tray

Finally! The day has come when both the young and the old can enjoy the fast, fun, and thrilling excitement of a Combi All-in-ONE.

The Combi All-in-ONE Baby Walker is a hotrod of an activity toy. Its interactive activity center includes an ignition key and gear shifter, both of which light up, vibrate and emit authentic car-like sounds when pushed, twisted, and turned. Its steering wheel clicks and honks for added entertainment value and the whole of it can be removed to provide a snack tray for eaters-on-the-go or to allow for extra, “off-road” playtime.

The height of it adjusts to three different positions, maxing out at 32-inches and 25 pounds. It folds up for easy travel and storage. Its seat is padded and easy to clean. Its wheels are adorned with anti-skid pads for safety.

Recommended for babies who can support their own body weight. Works well on carpet but best on harder flooring. Best baby walker for kids aged 9 to 36 months. 2 AA batteries are required.

The Disney 2.0 Developmental Baby Walker

Although not as cool as the Combi All-in-one– what with a toned-down electronic play tray that offers somewhat uninspiring options (generic sounds, lights, toys, etc.) for interaction – the Disney 2.0 Developmental Baby Walker does outdo a few of the other walkers by offering a locking option that allows the activity toy to transform into a non-moving jumper.

Great for when you need to leave your little one alone for a quick second to use the bathroom or make a bottle.

It comes available in a wide array of color options and themes. Its play tray detaches, offering a large eating area for snacking between steps. And, for the safety-conscious, it comes equipped with anti-skid brake pads.

It also offers a three-point height adjustment option so that the baby can grow as they go – up to 30 pounds.

Recommended for those who can sit upright with little assistance. Buyer beware: if you’re looking for the best baby walker for carpets, check the reviews above and below, as this one is not so great.

Versatility equals value in the world of babies. The second you buy something is the one right before they grow out of it. This is why 2-in-1 walkers like the Kolcraft Tiny Steps 2-in-1 Activity Walker are so darn alluring.

When your little one isn’t old enough, or skilled enough to carry their own weight, they can glide around in the super-supported, easy-to-clean, ride-in seat.

Or, if you think they’re truly ready to roll, they can stand up like the rest of us and walk around the room with the help of a handlebar placed at the very back – all you need to do is remove the seat, easy as that!

The available toys and activities – a flower-shaped mirror with crinkle petals and a textured stem, a spinning ball for batting, and a two-disc bead bar – leave something to be desired, but, thanks to its ease-of-use, its fold-ability for simple storage and machine-washable seat pad, it’s a definite bang-for-your-buck type of toy.

For children between 15 and 25 pounds, under 32 inches tall, and those who can support their own body weight with their legs. Comes equipped with non-skid friction pads for added safety. For your convenience.

Link loops – the little holes you see attached to certain toys that allow you to link other toys to it – are ingenious inventions. (Honestly, they make it so much easier to keep up with your baby’s uncanny ability to grow instantly bored with whatever you put in front of them.)

And though they’re far from the most alluring aspect of the Baby Einstein Baby Neptune Explorer Walker – which contains features like a removable, nautically-themed activity center with lights and sounds, a high-backed seat that wipes clean for stain-free silliness and height adjustments – it at least lets you know that someone was thinking about everyday baby entertainment when they put it together.

Apart from that though, and its aforementioned activity center – which can be removed to provide room for other toys and easy snack-age – it hardly holds up in terms of mobility, as it’s a little clunky to use and doesn’t have the greatest range of motion.

For babies under 25 pounds who can sit unassisted.

The Safety 1st Sounds N’ Lights Activity Walker is as old-school as it gets when you’re talking top-rated baby walkers. Their look, feel and style are all about the same as those made when we were young.

The Sounds N’ Lights activity walker contains everything you might expect from a top-rated walker – a removable activity tray, a 3-height adjustable, machine-washable padded seat and fold-able frame –  only with a design aspect worthy of the term retro and durability worthy of older eras.

Its activity center also contains a set of 5, very playful toys that interact with your little one through 12 songs, sounds, and lights.

For babies 4 months or older, under 30 pounds, who can hold their head up unassisted, and for those who are unable to climb out of it. Check other parents reviews on Amazon

The Fisher-Price First Steps Jumperoo

For those of you too spooked by the early warning about developmental delays and safety concerns – and those unimpressed by the V-Tech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker – we thought it best to include a “non-walker” in our list of the best baby walkers. (Because we care.)

Okay, so calling the First Steps Jumperoo a “non-walker” is a bit of an undersell. Thanks to an extendable frame, and a seat that swivels a full 360 degrees, your little one can walk, back and forth, within the confines of the toy. (Or, if you shorten the frame, it can act as an immobile jumper.)

Its activity center is quite extensive as well. A lion mirror. Frog roller ball. Butterfly bead bar. Alligator roller. Bat-at birdie. These are just a handful of the animal-related entertainment options that this little hybrid has to offer.

Finger-safe spring covers. Sturdy steel frame. Machine-washable seating pad. 3-position height adjustment. For little ones that weigh less than 25 pounds. Requires 2 AA batteries. The Fisher-Price First Steps Jumperoo is, without a doubt, the most versatile, most innovative item on this list.

Happy Hunting! Hope you’ve enjoyed our reviews of the very best baby walkers.
